During this half term break, I  would like you to use your camera lens to provide a window into your world during the 'Lockdown'. We are looking for fun or emotional or inspiring pictures that show how you and your family and even your pets are getting through these strange times. You can take pictures in your home or garden or things you can see from where you live. Or why not take pictures on your daily walk/exercise? Be as creative as you want, but please also be safe. Half Term

25/05/20 - 30/05/20
Usually this would be half term when you are with family and friends.  There are often special events organised and picnics and beaches to enjoy.  We still want you to have that half term feeling!
Instead of our usual classroom tasks online this week, I’d like you instead to create a memory box or diary to show how you will remember this time.
In the future, other children will be studying this in history lessons (imagine that!)  They will want to learn about it by using your thoughts and memories.  Let’s make it a brilliant resource for the future
.
WHAT TO DO:
  • Choose a box
  • Decorate the box together
  • Collect pieces of memorabilia
  • Pick your keepsakes carefully
IDEAS OF THINGS YOU COULD INCLUDE:
  • Memorabilia from a day in the garden or nature
  • Drawing of family including pets, names, ages etc.
  • A 2020 dated coin
  • A note/text message/letter showing how you connected with friends and family
  • Painted pebble
  • A poster of you including date, age, friends, feelings, favourite things, worries, future plans etc.
  • 2020 stamp
  • A hand print to show how much you have grown
  • Items that have been important during this time
  • Pressed flowers
  • A copy of government letter about the pandemic
  • Photos of fun things you and your family have been doing to keep busy.
Picture
Picture
Picture
Many of you will be missing your activities, like football, swimming and dancing.  Think of this as an opportunity! Practise your keep uppies, how many can you do?  Design an obstacle course to practise dribbling; any household objects can be markers.  Make up a dance routine and maybe even dress in a costume to perform it?

BE SURE TO TAG @penyrheol2 WITH ALL YOUR MEMORY BOX, ACTIVITIES AND OBSTACLE COURSE FUN

Relax, reflect and refresh! Enjoy half term.

What are your lockdown memories? You can e mail them to me LecrassC@hwbcymru.net or share on Twitter @penyrheol2

In 1963, Maurice Sendark wrote the picture book Where The Wild Things Are. In the story Max, on the night he wore his wolf suit went on a magical journey to the land of the Wild Things and became the King of these strange creatures. Eventually. he missed home and made the journey back to his bedroom, where it all began.

Listen to the story below...
In the story, there are many strange creatures that have never been seen before.

Here is a new creature I managed to create. I called it a Rhiswanzebtah. It is a mix of four different animals:
rhinos, swans, zebras and cheetahs
which gives it its name

Celebrate National Superhero Day With Your Own Superhero

Picture
Picture

Celebrate National Superhero Day on April 28 with your child and show her the importance of having heroes and being a hero to others.

Every superhero needs to be in tip-top mental and physical condition. Why not create your own superhero training centre by setting up a DIY backyard obstacle course.

Teach your child about the heroes in his/her own life. Talk to them about why it's important to have superheroes in your life, not just the caped, masked variety who save the world from super villains in movies and comics, but the regular people who make a difference in the world every day.

Please email me your superheroes pictures and they will be added to our website shackleyr@hwbcymru.net
