SUMMER HOLIDAYS
Hello Year 5!
Here is a little message from Mrs Rimell...
“You have been so wonderful during this strange time, but we have met these challenges together and have shown that our positivity and strength always prevails.
I want to say a big well done to those who have stuck at their routine and completed lots of online home learning tasks. Your work ethos has been impressive and you have made me proud. A big thank you to all the adults too, who have ensured that you maintained happy, healthy and continued to learn and grow.
It is nearly summer holidays so I urge you to continue to be positive role-models, enjoy family time and follow Government guidance to help keep you safe.
Here are some fun summer challenges that you may want to try :)

Usually this would be half term when you are with family and friends. There are often special events organised and picnics and beaches to enjoy. We still want you to have that half term feeling!
Instead of our usual classroom tasks online this week, I’d like you instead to create a memory box or diary to show how you will remember this time.
In the future, other children will be studying this in history lessons (imagine that!) They will want to learn about it by using your thoughts and memories. Let’s make it a brilliant resource for the future.

IDEAS OF THINGS YOU COULD INCLUDE:
|
Many of you will be missing your activities, like football, swimming and dancing. Think of this as an opportunity! Practise your keep uppies, how many can you do? Design an obstacle course to practise dribbling; any household objects can be markers. Make up a dance routine and maybe even dress in a costume to perform it?
Tom has already started perfecting his kicking. Watch out Biggar...

Obstacle course can be great too. Anyone have any chalk to map out a route around the house, with lines to follow and stations for star jumps? Maybe even some reverse running! It’s all fun, enjoyable and will keep you in top form. Include your brothers and sisters and Mums and Dads to keep the team spirit alive.

BE SURE TO TAG @penyrheol2 WITH ALL YOUR MEMORY BOX, ACTIVITIES AND OBSTACLE COURSE FUN

Hello again/Shwmae pawb. Hope you had a great weekend.
This week our learning activities will be based on the book Where The Wild Things Are
This week our learning activities will be based on the book Where The Wild Things Are
In 1963, Maurice Sendark wrote the picture book Where The Wild Things Are. In the story Max, on the night he wore his wolf suit went on a magical journey to the land of the Wild Things and became the King of these strange creatures. Eventually. he missed home and made the journey back to his bedroom, where it all began.
Listen to the story below
In the story, there are many strange creatures that have never been seen before.
Here is a new creature I managed to create. I called it a Rhiswanzebtah. It is a mix of four different animals:
rhinos, swans, zebras and cheetahs
which gives it its name

Your map must :
- be drawn from a birds eye view (view from above)
- have a title
- show where all of the buildings/objects are, as well as trees, hedges, the tree house etc.
- use symbols and a key for clarity e.g. pink dots show where each egg is hidden and blue dot shows where grand Easter prize is hidden
